News Update

Now that we have all the statutory powers to make the scheme happen, the Council has taken the decision to rebrand the scheme and terminate the licence agreement with Ulsterbus. As a direct result of this, from 1 July 2007 the Translink name has been dropped. We are still in the process of rebranding and are currently using an interim name, Luton to Dunstable Busway, until the new identity is launched later in the year.

One implication of the change is that the scheme website has now been taken down, until the relaunch.

The busway is planned as a frequent, dependable high-quality service linking Houghton Regis, Dunstable and Luton.

The service will be provided by specially adapted buses capable of running both on their own track and on the public roads.

This will maximise the flexibility of Busway services so they can serve a large number of destinations in the area, connecting the main housing areas of the conurbation with the main industrial areas, the three town centres, the rail stations, and London Luton airport.

Separate strategies that have been adopted include walking, buses, cycling and parking.  Further details for these strategies can be found in the links below.
