Kevin Crompton
Council Chief Executive Kevin Crompton will be in the online hot seat again today Tuesday (7th August) from 11.30am – 1.30pm. . .

. . .following his successful sessions on 6th November 2006 and 17th July.

Kevin will be ready and waiting to answer your e-mail queries about any aspect of the council’s work.  So if you have a burning question about council services, council tax, value for money, community cohesion or even local democracy, just get in touch.

For an online chat with Kevin on the 7th, all you need to do is visit www.luton.gov.uk/askthechief. After entering details about yourself and your query on the web page, you will have direct access to the council chief.  An automatic message will let you know if there is a queue in front of you.  The link will only be live between the stated times on the day.

Kevin said:  “I was delighted to have the opportunity to converse with so many local people during the recent online session and thank you for taking the time to get in touch. Your views really matter to the council. If I can’t answer your question immediately, I’ll write to you as soon as I have more details.  I look forward to hearing from many more of you!”

The chat software is part of the online library enquiry service People's Network offering anyone the chance to ask a librarian a question online any time, any day with an immediate and personal response.  The Museums, Libraries and Archives Council manages the service in this country with out-of-hours support from library staff in the USA and Canada.
Launched in Luton over a year ago, the chat service is particularly popular with people who are unable to get to their local library.

Jean George who manages the Luton Library Service said:  “As far as we know, no other chief executive or councillor has ever used the online service for a surgery with local residents.  It’s an important opportunity for local people to chat directly to someone who will be helping to shape the future of their town.  This is a great example of e-government, using the latest technology to benefit all of us"
