Information This study day is a unique opportunity to discover the fascinating life stories behind three rare coverlets on display in the exhibition 'Inspired by Stitch' at Stockwood Discovery Centre. Learn more about 19th century dress fabrics and the techniques used to make quilts and coverlets.

Victoria Piety on Cloth - Margareta Faust, textile researcher from Sweden will present her research into the rare Wyatt and Bloomfield coverlets in display in the exhibition.

Patchwork and Quilting in the 19th century - Bridget Long, quilt historian and author will share her knowledge of quilts and coverlets in the mid 1800s and talk about fabric and piecing techniques.

Piecing Country Life - Veronica Main, curator of costume and textiles will reveal the fascinating life stories behind the makers of the 150 year old Mary Greening coverlet, which inspired the exhibition.

Guided tour - there will be a guided tour of the 'Inspired by Stich' exhibition with the opportunity to see and hear more about the vibrant exhibits.

Meet the Quilters - see demonstrations by members of the New Horizons Textile Group and Bedfordshire Quilters. Work by these artists will be on sale in the museum shop.

Tea, coffee and a light lunch are included in the cost of the study day.
