| Information | Make Noise in Libraries fortnight runs from 7 to 19 July and aims to encourage visually impaired people to use libraries more. This year we are running an event at Central Library with W F Hoes, who publish a great range of audiobooks and large print. Starting in the conference room at 1.30pm on Wednesday 9 July, the afternoon includes a talk by Gordon griffin, who has narrated hundreds of audiobooks, as well as a talk by Andrew Treppass, who will be discussing how the books are put together technically. We will also be showcasing the lastest range of digital audioplayers (MP3 players known as Playaways) that have just come into stock. This is a free event, with no need for people to book. If anyone who wants to come uses a guide dog or stick, there will be staff on hand to make sure they can get to the room without any hassle. |
