Toddlers with Childminder
Childminders provide care for children in their home. If accredited they also provide early years education following ‘Birth to Three Matters’ & Foundation Stage Curriculum.

Depending on the conditions of registration, childminders may be able to provide the following:

  • care for children from babies to 16 years old
  • care for siblings
  • overnight care or unsociable hours
  • emergency care
  • home childminding
  • collection or Drop off at nursery setting or school

All childminders listed by Luton Children and Families Information Service (CFIS) are registered with Ofsted are home inspected regularly under the National Care Standards which cover the following areas:

  • criminal records bureau (CRB) checks
  • insurance for damages or accidents
  • First aid training
  • introductory training within six months of registration

Rates vary. Parents/carers will need to negotiate rates of pay with their chosen childminder and discuss contractual agreements for childcare provided.

On contacting Luton CFIS, your details will be taken and retained, unless you request otherwise.

Childminder lists are area specific and you will be asked which area you require based on ward or postcode (i.e. Biscot or Lewsey, or LU3 3 or LU2 7). Lists for the whole of Luton are not available due to the number of childminders currently operating.
