SoLUTiON
SoLUTiONs is an initiative to crackdown on crime and disorder and involves very member of of Luton's Crime and Disorder Reduction Partnership (CDRP)
SoLUTiONs in Farley (2-9 August)
Other initiatives that took place in Farley that week included:
- more than 30 Council, Police and Fire and Rescue service officers took part in and Environmental Action Day, highlighting around 120 problems with three roaming mobile teams including Trading Standards, Street Services Enforcement and Abandoned Vehicles immediately responding to specific problems
- Street Services officers carried out 7 Duty of Care visits to commercial premises as well as visual audits and investigations into several fly tipping incidents
- Abandoned/Unlicensed Vehicle team removed 2 unlicensed vehicles and investigated a further 19 vehicles
- 6 premises were tested for sales of alcohol using an underage volunteer. All these premises had been investigated for previous offences and half of them sold alcohol to the child volunteer. The offences will now be investigated
- 20 licensed premises were visited to check compliance with their licence and 5 are receiving letters of advice following minor breaches.
- the noise nuisance patrols were out on Saturday 2, Friday 8 and Saturday 9 August
- Housing officers discovered 110 council housing tenancy breaches because of the poor state of front gardens, 24 repair issues and 53 grounds maintenance issues. The Council will be dealing with all the issues within the next few weeks
- the Fire and Rescue Service carried out home fire safety checks, fitting free smoke alarms and helping householders to ensure their homes are safe from fire hazards
- Police officers secured number plates on a large number of vehicles to prevent the plates from being stolen and used on vehicles involved in criminal activity Increased patrolling was instituted for the week to allow for greater monitoring/support within the target area
- Several warrants were executed and several arrests were made for drugs and other offences
- 32 stop checks/searches were carried out by the Police
- 34 vehicles were checked to ensure they were using the correct diesel and one van owner received a £250 fine
- 2 motorbikes were seized for driving illegally.
