Luton LINk is set up to give local communities a stronger voice in how their health and social care services are designed and delivered.
What will Luton LINk do?
Luton LINk will find out what people want, investigate issues and use their powers to hold services to account. For example, Luton LINk will:
- ask local people what they think of their health and social care and suggest improvements directly to the service providers
- look into specific issues (like poor hygiene in a hospital ward, closure of a care home), make recommendations and get a response from those that are responsible
- ask service providers for information and get answers in a specified amount of time
- be able to carry out spot checks to see if services are working well
- refer issues to the local authorities' overview and scrutiny committe if it seems action is not being taken
Why get involved?
- draw attention to neglected issues or areas
- influence decision makers about new or existing services
- help the community speak with a stronger voice
- work closely with service providers to give better care
- contribute towards identifying wider issues and gaps in service provisions
Who can join?
Individuals - such as carers, service users, community leaders, patient representatives, individuals.
Groups - such as charities, faith groups, resident associations, youth councils, BME organisations and business federations.
How much time will it take?
Getting involved in Luton LINk is totally flexible - register for updates on LINk activities and get involved as and when you can. You can receive information on service review opportunities and access specific areas that interest you or actively get involved in a particular focus group.
