Green bins/clear sacks/red recycling bins for flats
We use both red and green bins for recycling, depending on where you live.
What can you recycle?
- Newspapers & Magazines
- Cardboard
- Telephone directories, including yellow pages.
- Junk mail/ Leaflets
- Plastic bottles (no other plastics)
- Steel Cans
- Aluminium Cans
- Aluminium foil
- Empty aerosols
- Tetra pak (milk cartons, fruit juice cartons, liquid food containers, and other wax cartons)
- Textiles - clothing, paired shoes, towels, etc, (please place them into the recycling sack).
WEEE also now accept many of your small electrical items. (Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment)
- Small kitchen appliances including kettles, toasters, blenders and coffee machines
- Mobile phones, chargers, landline base stations and handsets
- DVD, video and TV set-top digital boxes plus remote controls
- Keyboards, printers, modems, scanners and mouse
- Hair dryers, straighteners, electric toothbrushes, trimmers, razors and irons
- Many other items including cameras, clock radios, toys, lamps, power tools, paper shredders.

All recyclables - except for textiles - should be loose in your recycling bin. Don't use plastic carrier bags.
Put your green recycling bin or recycling sack out for collection by 6am on the collection day the green bin is collected fortnightly. You can check your recycling collection day in the downloads below.
What can't you recycle?
- Glass (do not throw away - please use your kerbside collection or take it to the nearest Mini Recycling Centre, find out where below)
- Carrier bags
- Nappies
- Food waste
- Sweet and crisp packets
- Tissues
- All other rubbish
Please use your green bins and clear sacks properly
We are sorry, but we will only collect your green bin or clear sack if you have put the correct things in it. Please remember to remove your bin from the kerbside as soon as possible after collection to avoid blocking pavements or footpaths.
