Private Sector Housing is part of Housing and Social Services relating to housing conditions in private property, to assist in maintaining public health.

Private Sector Housing, who deal with matters of Public Health relating to housing conditions in private property.  The section also carries out programmed and reactive inspections to Houses in Multiple Occupation, to ensure that there are adequate amenities, that the house is in good repair and that there are suitable fire precautions.

The section is staffed by Environmental Health Officers and Environmental Technical Officers who are empowered to compel landlords to bring properties, including single family dwellings, up to a decent standard. 

Officers also enforce the removal of accumulations of refuse on private residential land and clearance/repair of blocked or defective drainage systems.

A Landlord's Forum is held twice a year.
