Town Hall
People who work or perform in pubs or clubs where amplified music is played are likely to experience high noise levels which can cause permanent hearing damage.

From April 2008 employers and employees working in pubs and clubs have duties to protect the hearing of all employees. This includes bar staff, performers and crew, including guest performers . Where it is reasonably practicable, good acoustic design of the premises needs to be incorporated at the earliest possible time to minimise exposure to unnecessary noise and is usually cost-effective.

Practical guidance on the control of noise at work in music and entertainment can be found on Sound Advice.

FREE Training Day
The Health and Safety Executive, in conjunction with Luton Borough Council and other Councils in Hertfordshire  and Bedfordshire, are running a free Sound Advice Training day.

Date:   Thursday 27th November 2008
Venue: Liquid/Envy Nightclub on the Stevenage Leisure Park, Stevenage, Hertfordshire
Time:   9.30am-12.30pm

The event aims to help the entertainment industry
understand their legal obligations in relation to noise and control or reduce exposure to noise at work without stopping people enjoying music.
