Greenhouse Gas Emissions Reporting

We are required to publish their own GHG report locally on their website, and that as a minimum the totals in CO2 equivalent for Scope 1 (direct) and scope 2 (energy indirect) emissions are reported. This is to support the localism agenda by ensuring local authorities are accountable to their local people for their greenhouse gas emissions.

These figures have been calculated using the same guidance other organisations, particularly in the private sector follow, currently on a voluntary basis. This means each local authority’s own estate emissions will be broadly comparable to other organisations in their areas.
