d4 supported employment service

With an experienced and qualified staff team d4 follows a number of processes to support the individual reach their goal:

• The first element of a successful job match is the vocational profiling or "getting to know you" process. Here we identify the aspirations, personality, individual skills, former experiences and job interests of the participant.
• d4 works with local employers to address their recruitment needs and support them with disability awareness within their organisations.
• Once we secure employer commitment, the job analysis takes place. This checks out any assumptions made in the job description and thoroughly investigates the job on offer so that we can describe all its aspects and those of the work place, e.g. health and safety
• When the individual starts work, 1:1 support is offered to the individual and/ or employer. The levels, amount and forms of support to be provided will depend upon the individual’s needs, abilities and employment situation.
• Staff are also available to provide advice and guidance on benefits and practical skills such as writing a CV, application forms and presentation in interview.

Referral for the service can come through 2 routes.

1. Via referral from services within adult social care e.g. Social worker, Day care, Promoting independence services.
2. Attending the ‘Practical Steps to Employment’ programme, a 6 week employment course run in conjunction with Bedfordshire PCT for anyone with health issues. For more information please contact The Healthy Steps to Employment Team on:  01525 636876
