Town Hall
Public involvement is always welcomed in Scrutiny. All Scrutiny meetings are held in public although occasionally there may be an item on the agenda that contains exempt information when the public would be required to leave the meeting.

If you would like to speak on a particular subject or ask a question contact the Democracy Team who will try to accommodate your request. Alternatively you can submit a question in writing by email or post.

Members of the public with particular expertise in an area the subject of a Task and Finish Group can be co-opted onto a panel to act in an advisory capacity. If you have knowledge or expertise in a topic being reviewed please contact the Democracy Team.

Local people and organisations can suggest topics for Scrutiny. Any suggestion made must meet the following criteria:

  • affect a group or community of people
  • relate to a service, event or issue in which the Council has a significant stake or which the council has influence or interest
  • it is not an issue the Overview and Scrutiny process has considered during the last 12 months
  • or a planning issue or other matters dealt with by another Council Committee except where the issue relates to process
