Register to vote

Voting is an important way of having your say on the issues you care about. By voting you are also deciding who will take decisions on issues affecting your everyday life.

If you don't register you not only lose your right to vote in national and local elections but could also face difficulties when trying to get credit, a mobile phone contract or a mortgage. Credit reference agencies check the register for proof of address as part of their application process. Residents could also face a £1,000 fine if they don't return their registration form.
