Luton Museums Service was established in 1927. Today the service includes two museums, Wardown Park Museum (which includes the Bedfordshire and Hertfordshire Regimental Gallery), and the Stockwood Park Museum (which includes the Mossman Collection of horse-drawn vehicles), as well as the Nature Conservation Service based at the John Dony Field Centre.

Luton Museums Service is one of four ‘hub’ museums services in the East of England that receive additional 'Renaissance in the Regions' funding from central government. These ‘hub’ museums are part of the initiative which recognises the vital role that major museums play in the life of the nation. To find out more you can download the ‘hub’ Business Plan and the Education Performance and Delivery Plan below.

The Museums Service provides formal education services, curatorial, advisory and corporate planning functions in relation to heritage, land management, cultural diversity, social inclusion and lifelong learning. For more information about any of its work please contact the Museums Service and staff will be happy to help.

In addition the Museums Service runs a lively programme of exhibitions and events at all of its sites throughout the year.

If you would like to join our free mailing list please email your name and address to the Museums Service with the title Events Mailing List in the subject line and we will keep you in touch with what is going on.
