Repair times vary depending on the type of repair. For example, if your toilet isn’t flushing, we must repair it within one working day, while we have three to mend a loose banister rail. A more detailed list of how long you should have to wait is given in the table on this page.
What happens if we don’t make the repair in time?
If we don’t do the repair in time, you can ask another contractor to attend. Unless there is a good reason why the work hasn’t been done, we will get a second contractor. They then have the same amount of time to do the repair as the first one had.
If the second contractor doesn’t do the repair in time, we will pay you compensation.
How much compensation can I get?
If the second contractor doesn’t do your repair in time, you will get £10 in compensation. For every extra day you wait, you will get another £2 up to a maximum of £50 for any one job. We will reimburse you unless you already owe us some money in which case we will take away the amount you owe from your compensation.
Sometimes there may be a specific reason why a repair can’t be done. For example, if you didn’t keep your appointment to let the contractor in, and they therefore couldn’t carry out the repair. In such cases, we don’t have to pay you any compensation.
