Farley - The story so far....
Thousands of local residents have enjoyed a series of festivals, face to face surveys and got involved in Community Planning Decision Day and Community Funding Decision Day events in the Farley Ward since the programme began in South Luton, in April 2010.
Community Planning Decision Day
The Community Planning Decision Day in October 2010 saw residents come together and meet with Council workers and partner agencies, to discuss their issues and possible solutions. The event ended with voting on the priorities people wanted to see taken forward by the Council and its partners at the Luton Forum - including the police, primary care trust, fire and rescue service, the Luton Assembly, other public service providers and the business community.
The top 3 priorities identified were:
1. Reduce fear of crime and anti-social behaviour by encouraging the neighbourhood to come together
2. More free activities to support low income families in Farley
3. More diversionary activities for young people
Please view the newsletter and ward bulletin attachments below to see how we're doing on addressing your community priorities.
Community Funding Decision Days
The opportunity for funding was advertised to the community, local groups and the voluntary sector to deliver projects in the ward which target the identified priorities. This was followed by the Community Funding Decision Day event, whereby the community came and watched groups present their individual projects. The community then voted on which projects they wanted to see funded in their ward.
The second Farley Community Funding Decision Day took place on Saturday 26 November 2011 at the Farley Community Centre. Local people attended and followed the same process as described above.
To see what projects have been funded, visit the Farley Community Projects attachment below.
