What’s available for over 50’s?
Look through the Full of Life guide at the bottom of the page to see what is available for you. You will also find details of various walking programmes.
You can enjoy multiple keep fit classes, introductory bowls, dance, swimming and art sessions and plenty of discounted games, hobbies and social outings right across Luton. There is something for everyone!
There all also activities for those of you who are active, but prefer your interests to be more leisurely. This year includes a visit to the hat Factory from Luton's poet John Hegley, Four Poofs and a Piano and swing band, In The Mood.
The walking programme gives you a chance not only to enjoy light exercise, but also to meet like minded ramblers and strollers while discovering some of the hidden beauties of the local countryside.

Why is the Full of Life campaign so important?
The government says this is our chance to tackle outdated stereotypes on ageing and bring people of all ages together. By 2020 half the UK population will be aged 50 or over, a time of life when age discrimination can become a real problem and a major reason for legislation in 2006.
Health too is at serious risk if people don’t stay physically active. With this in mind, we’re targeting our support of the government’s Full of Life campaign at our 50+ residents.
Physical activity has great benefits for older people, even if they have previously been inactive. Arthritis is common in older people – around 80% of people over 50 are affected to some degree. Exercise helps prevent and slow arthritis and is also important to keep bones strong and avoid osteoporosis.
Staying physically and mentally active can help to reduce your risk of many conditions, like coronary heart disease, osteoporosis, depression and memory loss.
Of course, not everyone’s lucky enough to enjoy good health, independence and a busy social life as they get older and we’re as committed as ever to meeting the needs of the less able. In short, we aim to help people stay active and integrated in the community as much as possible for as long as possible, whatever their age or individual needs.
If you aren’t able to get around as well as you’re used to, or feeling lonely, you can still keep active and that’s often a great way to meet new friends too.
