Thank you to our volunteers
We have over 130 volunteers helping over the weekend committing over 1,200 volunteering hours.
Volunteers will be undertaking several roles such as:
- Harmony Meet and Greeters – providing information to attendees about the festival, Luton and the Luton in Harmony initiative and also providing a welcome smile to people visiting the town.
- Volunteer Stewards – supporting the overall stewarding operation throughout the festival weekend
- Festival Support Team – supporting the activities and stages in and around Wardown Park
- Artistic/ production Support – supporting the two concerts on Popes Meadow
Volunteering is a vital part of Luton’s make-up. We are proud to have so many dedicated and committed people in our town, reflecting a variety of backgrounds and skills.
For its part, the Council is committed to helping volunteers gain practical experience, new skills or training that could offer a route into employment or education, or just giving people the opportunity to do something positive that benefits their local community.
Some volunteers will leave having gained an NVQ level 2. Others will have received training providing by event partners.
Festival volunteers are to be invited to a celebration event, to recognise their contribution, at which point they can learn about some of the other volunteering opportunities the town has to offer.
As a legacy, we hope that many festival volunteers will continue volunteering with organisations in Luton.
