The service offers a free pest identification service and advice on DIY pest control.
It is not the Council’s intention that its pest control service operates in direct competition with private pest control contractors. We recognise that there is a difference between a “nuisance” pest presence and an infestation that is of adverse health significance. Therefore, we will, in the first instance, offer free advice on a wide range of pest problems to all who ask for assistance and will provide positive action where the problem is detrimental to the well being of the complainant.
All officers have a recognised national qualification in pest control and possess the NPTA Adv Diploma in Pest Management. The unit is a member of the National Pest Technicians Association. Our officers are encouraged to develop professionally by attending seminars and other events to become familiar with new ideas and techniques within the pest control industry.
You should not expect a fire fighting service that addresses the pest problem at your home by using rodenticides or insecticides in the first instance. We operate an integrated pest management policy that has been slightly modified from the industry standard to suit our conditions in Luton.
We take any pest problems very seriously and our pest control officer will work with you to eliminate or manage the infestation in a safe and cost efficient manner.
