Electoral registration

The electoral register lists the names and addresses of everyone that's registered to vote in public elections.
The register is used for electoral purposes, such as making sure only eligible people can vote. It's also used for other limited purposes specified in law such as:

• checking credit applications
• detecting crime such as fraud
• calling people for jury service

You're not automatically registered if you pay Council Tax. You will need to register yourself. No one else can do it for you.
