Volunteering at Luton Borough Council

Subheading

Be part of our volunteer team.

We’re looking for enthusiastic and dedicated volunteers to bring in new skills, knowledge and experience to provide additional support for the services we provide, so together we can improve the quality of life for all of those who live, work  and visit Luton.

Our intention with volunteering within the Council is to remove any potential barriers to participation and develop a scheme that involves a wide range of people reflecting a variety of backgrounds, skills and qualities that can add value to the services provided by us.

Volunteering opportunities are available in a wide range of council areas and departments including volunteering with vulnerable adults, younger people or at local events, projects and initiatives (please view full list on the information booklet below).

We’re currently looking for volunteers in the following areas:
  • Health Champions
  • Cancer Peer Educators
  • Event Support Volunteers (including Your Say, Your Way)
  • Youth Club Volunteers
  • Day Centre Volunteers
  • Luton in Harmony

Investing in our volunteers is one of our key priorities, as we want the council volunteer scheme to provide participants with the outcomes they are looking for – whether it is gaining new skills, experience or training that offers a route into employment or education, or just providing the opportunity to do something positive that benefits the local community.

Full training is provided and volunteers also have the chance to undertake a volunteer accreditation. Volunteers also have an assigned mentor, and have access to several benefits such as, the opportunity to undertake a skills analysis, access to National Careers Service, travel expenses, an enhanced CV, reference (where applicable), recognition through celebration events and the chance to be part of our award-winning team of volunteers!

Interested? Why not register with us at volunteering@luton.gov.uk or call 01582 548773 and we’ll invite you along to our next Welcome Workshop.
